Bahawalpur, is a city located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Bahawalpur is the 12th largest city in Pakistan with an estimated population of 798,509. The city also lies near the ancient Derawar Fort in the Cholistan Desert near the border with India, and serves as the gateway to Pakistan’s Lal Suhanra National Park. Bahawalpur was once the capital of the former princely state of Bahawalpur ruled by Nawabs.

The Nawabs of Bahawalpur were regarded as part of the Rajputana States, the majority of which now form the bulk of the neighbouring Indian state of Rajasthan.

Bahawalpur is circumvented by many pulchritudinous tourist spots, like Lal Sohanra National Park, and famous shrines like Uchh Sharif.

Noor Mahal and Gulzar Mahal are the most elegant buildings in Bahawalpur built in the Italian style. Noor Mahal is unique in its architecture and is splendid with comely lawns and driveways


LAL SOHANRA PARK, 50 kms east of Bahawalpur, is established on both sides of the Desert Branch Canal and fortifies a cyclopean variety of animals and birdlife. TDCP offers a six room motel with restaurant to accommodate guests at this location.

UCHH SHARIF, situated 50 kms west of Bahawalpur, is one of the most antediluvian towns. It’s famous for its pulchritudinous ruins and tombs ornamented with blue mosaic, and other embellishments. Among these tombs the 15th century octagonal tomb of Bibi Jawindi is the best-kenned monument. It is reputed to have been the most consequential cultural centre during 13th century.

Bahawalpur Museum
This is a modest museum with a good collection of old coins medals postage stamps, manuscripts inscriptions woodcarvings camel silk paintings historical models stone carvings of the Islamic and Pre-Islamic period.

Zoological Garden
The Bahawalpur zoo is considered to be one of the best in the country. Spread over an area of 25 acres, it has an interesting collection of 120 animals and 750 tropical birds. The zoo has the distinction of breeding lions. It also has an aquarium and museum with stuffed rare birds and animals.

Dring Stadium
Bahawalpur has one of the finest stadiums in the country. It has 5 cricket grounds 2 football stadiums, 1-basketball court 6 lawn tennis courts and a covered swimming pool. It also has one of the best hockey stadiums in the country.


Shrine of Muluk Shah
He was a popular saint. An annual fair is also held here annually.

Jamia Masjid Al-Sadiq
It was made by Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi . It has a capacity of 50 to 60 thousand people. It is one of the most beautiful and prominent mosques in Pakistan.
