Just two weeks before the end of the five-year term, the outgoing government has appointed Amjad Javed Saleemi, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) as the new National Highway Authority and Motorway Police (NHA&MP) inspector general (IG) whereas Dr Kaleem Imam has been asked to report to Establishment Division.
Additional IG Amjad Javed Saleemi has been appointed as Inspector General of National Highway & Motorway Police. A notification has been issued in this regard. Earlier, Amjad Javed Saleemi was working as Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrolling (PHP).
The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Sindh Amjad Javed Saleemi chaired an introductory meeting here at Central Police Office (CPO) Friday.
Earlier, guard of honour was presented to the new IGP on his arrival at the CPO.
The introductory meeting was attended by Additional IGs, DIGs, heads of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), CIA, Special Branch, and Crime Branch.
The IGP took a detailed review and issued necessary instructions
Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol Police Amjad Javed Saleemi held a meeting at Central Police Office on Thursday, to review the police performance during the month of last August.
He compared the performance of August 2017 with the corresponding month of the preceding year and admonished the DSP PHP Mianwali and DSP PHP Rahim Yar Khan on poor performance and gave them one-month period to improve their performance or be ready for departmental action.
He said that all resources would be utilized to further improve the patrolling system. He directed the officers to check the bike riders in particular as 80 to 85 percent crimes were committed on bikes. DIG PHP, Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, SP HQ PHP, Imran Kishwar, SP PHP Lahore Region, Babar Bakhat Qureshi, SP PHP Multan Region, Huma Naseeb, SP PHP Faislabad, Umm-e-Salma, SP PHP Sargodha Region, Hassan Jameel Haider, SP PHP Rawalpindi Region, Muhammad Yousaf Malik, SP Gujranwala Region, Masood Raza, SP PHP DG. Khan Region, Muhammad Baqar Raza, and all DSPs attended the meeting.
He appreciated the Patrolling Posts Pindi Bhattian and Bundyal for recovering eight stolen cars and 48 batteries of mobile tower respectively. He also announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the outstanding police officers and officials.
He directed the DIG Patrolling Ghulam Mahmood Dogar to establish an analysis wing to monitor the performance of PHP. He directed the concerned SPs and DSPs to complete the work of 32 under construction patrolling posts within two weeks.
DIG Patrolling informed the meeting that around 306,432 saplings had been planted in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of PHP of which 138,951 saplings were successfully growing that was 45 percent of the total saplings’ plantation.

IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi took the charge as Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police. He is the 15th Inspector General of National Highways & Motorway Police. Before his posting as IG NH&MP, he was working as Additional Inspector General Police in Punjab Highway Patrol.
Amjad Javed Saleemi started his career in Police Service as ASP in 1986 appointed in Narowal. He has vast professional experience in police during his 32 years service. He has an excellent track record of professional competence in Police department. He is considered as the most professional police officers who served in all units of police departments.
On his arrival at NH&MP Headquarters, Islamabad, Guard of Honour was presented to him by smartly dressed Police contingent. A Memento of NH&MP was presented to new Inspector General, NH&MP Amjad Javed Saleemi in change of command ceremony at NH&MP HQs by Inspector General Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam.
He lauded that Motorway Police is well reputed police and we have to work with enthusiasm to enhance credibility level of NH&MP at national & international level.
In his opening address he emphasized upon the senior officers to promote help culture and courtesy with the road users, as this is the hallmark of the success of NH&MP.
He motivated by saying that NH&MP needs good persons like them, so strive to ensure a safe and secure driving environment and implementation of road safety regime on National Highways and Motorways.
At the end of the ceremony souvenirs were presented to Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam by newly IGP NH&MP Amjad Javed Saleemi and NH&MP officers of all ranks.
